Holiday Weekend Structure Fire in Upper Saddle River

The Ramsey FD along with other Mutual Aid units were called to help the brothers and sisters of the Upper Saddle River FD at a structure fire at 98 Carlough Rd. on Saturday afternoon. Engine 432 and Tower 441 responded and were immediately put to work as the fire spread through part of the large home. On Saturday, May 13 around 7:00 AM, Ramsey Emergency Services were called to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment, with the vehicle into a building on Main Street near the intersection of Spruce street. This morning, Ramsey Firefighters were alerted to a report of a structure fire at 33 Lakeview Terrace around 6:40 AM. Chief Doug Harvey (430) quickly arrived on scene, established Command and confirmed a working fire with flames and smoke showing from the roof area in the single floor dwelling. This afternoon Ramsey FD members stood next to the brothers and sisters of all Emergency Services along with hundreds of residents lining Kinderkamack Rd. holding American Flags in Oradell to pay tribute and support the family of Sgt. David Solinas, who was brought home today.

A Moment in History - Ramsey Lumber Co. Fire 3/27/1989

34 years ago today, at 6: 32 pm. Ramsey suffered its largest fire. The Ramsey Lumber Co. on Island Rd. Initial call came in as a brush fire but first unit in quickly realized it was the lumber sheds on fire. The first unit in was engine 435 which cut the lock on the gate and pulled down the alley between the 300 ft. long buildings. Within minutes the fire raced through the initial fire building, ... Chimney Fire Quickly Doused

Last evening around 8:30, the RFD was dispatched to a reported Chimney fire on North Central Ave. Deputy Chief Chris Warnet arrived on scene first and observed a working fire on the outside of the home traveling up the side of the wooden chimney structure. Last Monday evening and this afternoon, the RFD has been familiarizing themselves with a new 55 and older facility in Upper Saddle River. The structure is a prefab designed wood frame and truss roof construction fully sprinkled. Each apartment has its own kitchen with individual heating and cooling units. L J H Kustom Kitchens Corp was gracious enough to build a new podium for our meeting room. Larry’s business is in the former Ramsey firehouse he purchased from the Fire Dept. many years ago.
