This afternoon, the Ramsey FD was dispatched to a fully involved vehicle fire located on the first floor of the New Jersey Transit parking garage. Upon arrival of Deputy Chief Jim Dougherty, he confirmed a working fire and established command. First due engine connected to a hydrant and stretched 2 1-3/4" attack lines for extinguishment. Second due units arrived and provided manpower for final extinguishment and overhaul. Seeing the amount of smoke that spread through the 4 floors of the garage, Chief Dougherty called for the fan boat from Mahwah fire company 1. additionally, the air cascade unit from Mahwah Co. 3 was dispatched to fill air cylinders along with Ramsey Rescue. After the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that the vehicle was a 1960's Rolls Royce. The vehicle is a total loss and the cause is being investigated. No other vehicles were involved. Great job by the first due crew!!! no injuries were reported.
