The past 2 drill nights, RFD members were back at the Bergen County Life Safety Complex for live fire training in the burn building and last night a drill was on foam operations. The burn building allowed firefighters to experience heat, smoke and fire behavior with different type scenarios using propane fed fire and theatrical smoke. Members practiced hose advancement and fire attack utilizing the standpipe system. Members were rotated to the different positions on hose advancement and nozzle operations.
Last night was a drill on foam operations using training foam allowing members to familiarize and operate the different equipment carried to apply foam. Portable eductors were used for the operation and a refilling station was set up allowing members to experience the necessary steps to ensure constant foam application. The members were again, rotated to the different positions allowing experience on the entire operation.
The past few months, the RFD has been heavily involved in hands on training thanks to the Chiefs and the training officers spending the time and effort to schedule the drills. Thank you the instructors at the Academy for their time and efforts.
