RFD Members Inspect New Truck
By 460 Louis Warnet Jr.
December 9, 2011
Members of the RFD went to Odessey Specialty Vehicles in Wharton, N.J. on Friday afternoon to inspect the new utility truck that was ordered earlier this year. The truck is built on a 2012 Ford F-550 FWD 4-door chassis. The body construction has been completed and the vehicle will be prepared for paint and the installation of lights and other specific equipment. When the vehicle is placed in service in early 2012, it will function as a response vehicle for FAST responses as well as a support unit for a variety of special calls, the FD responds to. This vehicle will replace a pick up truck, once used by the DPW and has since been retired. The truck will carry 5 crew members along with air packs, tools, power saws, a thermal imaging camera, rescue rope, and other support equipment for FAST responsibilities.
